Blast-off at 6.30 a.m.
The space shuttle Challenger, loaded with a satellite and other equipment, was declared ready yesterday to blast off on its maiden flight at 6.30 a.m. (N.Z. time) today. “We are ready to add Challenger to our space fleet,” the launch director, Al O’Hara, told a pre-launch conference at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
