Royal tour under way
Prince William of Wales, the second in line to the Throne and the most celebrated baby in the Commonwealth, is nine months old today and about to take part in his first Royal Tour. He arrived in Alice Springs yesterday with his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, to begin their tour of Australia and New Zealand. They will spend four weeks in Australia before flying to Auckland on Sunday, April 17, for their two-week visit to New Zealand. Prince William, blond, blue-eyed, and the proud possessor of six teeth, is certain to be a centre of attraction; but he will not see much of New Zealand while he is here. He will stay at Auckland’s Government House while his parents travel around the country. Because of Princess Diana’s wish not to be parted for long from Prince William, the Royal couple will use Auckland as their base. The photographs on this page were taken by a London photographer, Tim Graham, at the invitation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
