Bowlers disappointing
PA Auckland None of'the faster bowlers taken on the emerging players’ tour of Australia looked an immediate international pros>ect, the manager, Mr Martin lorton, said when the New Zealanders returned to Auckland last evening. With the opportunities they had in Australia, said Mr Horton, the quicker bowlers should have had better results. “Brendon Bracewell got two bags of five wickets, but none
of the others could get more than four an innings,” he said. The New Zealanders lost their unbeaten record when a Victorian Country side gained a 24-run win in the game which finished on Saturday. Mr Horton said that the match, in which the New Zealanders, needing 236 to win, were dismissed for 221, was probably the highlight of the tour, because it was the first time they had been provided with real opposition.
