Basil Dean going home
From G. K. YULE Auckland Basil Dean will not wait for the final night of the Inter-Dominion championship carnival. He left Auckland yesterday on his way back to Ashburton, where he will be given a day or two off before racing at Addington Raceway on Easter Saturday. Basil Dean was responsible for the testing pace which saw Scotch Notch shatter the national record for 2700 m in the Trotters’ Grand Final. He still looked likely to share in the stake until he went off stride inside the final 100 m.
