TV programmes
Sir,—As residents of a North Canterbury township we would like to ask why “Prisoner,” which was shown on TVI at 10 p.m. on Wednesday is now on TV2 on a Thursday night. TV2 already has it three times a week in the afternoon. The major percentage of people here only get TVI and to show a programme for a while on one channel then change does not seem fair, especially when it is a popular programme. It has been replaced by “Taxi” which is a repeat We pay the same licence fee as people who get two channels so
we feel we should have a selection of programmes. — Yours, etc., S. E. PAKI (Mrs). M. E. WINTER (Mrs), L. J. HOPE (Mrs), H. M. EDKINS (Mrs). Waiau. March 4, 1983.
[Mr B. W. Parkin, head of programme purchasing and planning for Television New Zealand, replies: “While this programme has proved popular in its afternoon placement it has been much less popular with evening audiences. Therefore, to satisfy a demand for something more acceptable than a repeat of ‘Prisoner’ during peak time, we are now scheduling first run Movies For Television.”]
