PA New Plymouth The Hawera jockey, Dianne Moseley, was taken to hospital with head injuries after a fall at the Opunake Racing Club’s meeting at Hawera on Wednes- day. Her injuries were reported by track officials as slight, although she was taken from the Hawera racecourse by ambulance. Her condition in Hawera hospital was later listed as satisfactory.

The fall occurred in the second race of the day when

Moseley’s ride, Malcomem, fell on the turn entering the straight. A second horse. Lady Valeri, went over the top of Malcomem, dropping her rider, Dion Ramsey, heavily into the turf. Ramsey was shaken, but uninjured, and neither horse suffered serious injury. Although light rain was falling at the time of the incident and there was some concern about slippery conditions, senior riders told course officials there was nothing . wrong with the track.
