Sweaters hit in Peking
NZPA-AFP Peking Turtleneck sweaters with matching knit caps have emerged as the latest in Chinese women’s wear. The turtleneck is in and the blue work suit is out, according to the New China News Agency which recently reported special success for the line at the largest fashion show to be held in China since the 1949 Communist revolution. The sweaters come with matching woollen knit berets, which one 22-year-old Peking employee, claimed “made girls look more pretty and impressive.” The sweater-cap combinations are selling for $lO.BB, or about one-third the monthly salary of an average Chinese worker.
