Tennis sweep
Canterbury teams were too strong for their rivals in a quadrangular junior . tennis tournament held in Oamaru. Competition was held in three age groups, 16s, 14s and 12s, and Canterbury enjoyed a clean sweep in all sections. The teams dropped only four matches out of 72 in the tournament in which the other participants were Otago, North Otago and South Canterbury.
The winning teams were:— Sixteens.—Vicki Ratana, Rachel Wilson, Andrea Barlow:
John Robinson, Allan de Zwat. John Adair. Fourteens.—Lani Ratana, Joanna Lake, Fleur Howard; Rodney Gray,- Jeffrey Brightwell, Mathew Grainger. Twelves.—Anne Culhane, Amanda Trail, Lee Allan; Royne McKean, Michael Smith, Andrew Batie. Results were:— Canterbury 24 matches. North Otago 0; Canterbury 22, South Canterbury 2; Canterbury 22, Otago 2.
