Win for C.B.H.S.
Christchurch Boys’ High School, after establishing a first innings lead of 11 runs against Christ’s College, had to defend hard to avoid losing the annual match between the first two Xis at the College grounds yesterday. Boys’ High won the first innings. The first innings was a very low-scoring affair, Christ's College collapsing to be dismissed for 115, but Boys’ High had lost eight wickets before it overtook that target. Christ's College batted
with much more freedom in its second innings and scored 140 runs in 90 minutes before declaring at 213 for four. Boys' High, set 203 in 175 minutes, was never in sight of victory and finished at 71 for seven at stumps. Scores:— Christ’s College 115 (M. Bell 25, G. Hutton 22. D. Hudson 23: D. Hartshorn 5/45, C. Jackson 5/33) and 213/4 dec. (Hutton 78 n. 0.. A. Vincent 53. H. Hudson 35) lost to Christchurch Boys’ High School 126 (L. Germon 34 n o.; H. Hudson 5/55) and 71/7 (J. Gurnsey 3/39) on the first innings.
