Plea made for parent interest
More parents and householders should al tend the biennial meetings held to elect school committees, the general manager of the Canterbury Education Board. Mr David Wilson, has said "If more people came along they would have a better feel" for what is going on in the schools their children attend." said Mr Wilson. Election meetings will be held at Canterbury intermediate and area schools on March 16. Meetings to elect school committees at primary and integrated schools will be held on April 18.
Mr Wilson said that although enough parents attended the meetings two years ago to allow all except two schools to elect committees immediately, not enough parents were taking an interest. "Attendance at the meetings is an encouragement to the school itself and to the teachers who teach your children. or the children in your community." he said.
