Doctors join anti-N call
PA Wellington A group of New Zealand doctors has formed an organisation aimed at preventing nuclear war. Chaired by Professor Derek North, of the Auckland Medical School, the New Zealand branch of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War will hold its first national meeting in Wellington. “For the first time in history physicians from many countries throughout
the world are now linking together to try to prevent nuclear war." said Professor North. The group of New Zealand doctors had now joined more than 30,000 in 26 countries. "This explosion of concern by physicians in so many countries, in Western bloc, Eastern bloc, and non-aligned countries, has arisen because of the recognition that nuclear war would be the ultimate human and environmental disaster,” he said.
