A winner but a loser
NZPA Sydney Pity poor Peter Reith — he won an election but failed to get a seat in the Parliament. Last December Mr Reith, a Liberal, won the Victorian seat of Flinders in a byelection, and would have gone to Canberra had not the snap Federal election been called. He failed on Saturday to repeat his significant success of less than three months ago. . “Not to worry. Better luck next time,” he said. Had he been elected, he would have been the first candidate to have won his seat twice before being sworn in as a member of Parliament.
