A Wairakei angler, Mr R. Burgin, holds the 8.327 kg (181 b 53/4z) rainbow hen trout he caught while fly-fishing from a small boat on Lake Otamangakau, near Turangi, recently. The trout, which was 83.18cm long and had a girth of 53.34 cm, is the biggest caught in the Taupo district for many years. It was caught on a 2.948 kg (61/2lb) breaking strain leader and might qualify for a world line class record.
