New poll date
Britain’s Opposition Labour Party has brought forward a by-election it is counting on winning to shore up the position of its embattled leader, Michael Foot. Mr Foot set March 24 as voting day for the election in the Labour stronghold of Darlington in north-east England as the latest public opinion polls . pointed to a narrow Labour victory. — London.
