Bail opposed — ‘fear of transvestite violence

Two persons. facing charges relating to a stabbing incident in a Peterborough Street house last month have elected trial by jury. Desmond Wayne Macdonald, aged 29, unemployed (Miss E. H. Thomson),' is charged that with intent to cause grievous bodily harm he wounded Gina Parata. An appliction for bail for Macdonald, also known as Sybil Jayne Damon, was heard in chambers yesterday by Judge McAloon. Macdonald was remanded in custody to March 11.

Sergeant McCormick said

bail was still opposed for fear of the defendant causing violence again among the city's transvestites. Graham Andrew Billings, aged 29 (Mr N. J. Dunlop), was remanded on bail to April 27 for the taking of depositions. Bail of $l5OO was renewed and he was ordered to report daily to the police. It is alleged that knowing Sybil Jayne Damon had committed a crime of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, Sellings actively suppressed evidence in order to enable Damon to avoid arrest.
