NZers at ski forum
New Zealand skiers were among those from 29 countries who attended the “Interski . ’B3" forum in Italy earlier . this year. The forum, described as the Olympics for ski instructors, is held every four years to promote the exchange of ski-ing ideas between countries.’
New Zealand's contribution to the gathering in the village of Sexten. in northern Italy, was a demonstration by seven skiers, and the coach. John Armstrong of
common errors in technique 1 and how they should be < corrected. 1 There was a stunned sil- t ence among observers as the first “student” over-rotated I her way downhill but this I turned to applause as those f present realised what was i happening. < The demonstration was ac- < companied by music and provided an entertaining and i informative session. The < scene had been set for the I display the previous evening i with ’lectures by Armstrong < and the New Zealand Ski I
Instructors’ Association executive director. Scott Callaway, and the screening of slides. Armstrong was delighted to note that demonstrations by such top ski-ing nations as Switzerland contained skills which this country's skiers have also developed. The photograph shows four members of the New Zealand demonstration team (from front to back), Scott Callaway. Robin Armstrong. Tony Graham, and Chris Womersley.
