Six Aust. pacers left in Inter-dominions
PA Auckland Forty-one pacers, including six'Australians, remained in next month's Interdominion championship field when final payments were made yesterday. The entries include the New Zealand Cup winner Bonnie's Chance, the Auckland Cup winner Armalight and the top mare Delightful Lady. Thirty-five trotters remained’ in. including four Victorians. The Australian pacing nominees were headed by Gammalite and Popular Alm, and according to one Auckland Trotting Club official. their presence “guarantees it will be a great Inter-dominion." The other Australian acceptors were Royal Three, Ardstraw and Tricky One from New South Wales, and the Queenslander, Wondai’s Mate. The four Victorian trotters were Scotch Notch, Mighty Miller, Down South Clare and Skipper Don. Five pacers and 11 trotters will be balloted out on Monday, reducing the championship fields to three heats of 12 for pacers and two heats, of 12 trotters. Heats are on March 12, 16 and 19 at Alexandra Park, with the trotters’ final on
Mrach 19 and the pacers’ final on March 26. The last New Zealander to win the Inter-dominion pacing final was Rondel, driven bv Peter Wolfenden.'at Addington in 1979.
