Queen’s Pal for fillies’ series
Special correspondent Dunedin Queen's Pal will be expected to consolidate her position as the leader in the Wrightson-Southern Filly series by winning the Otago Mannequin Stakes at Wingatui today. Queen’s Pal leads the series with 17 points, nine
ahead of Pidgeon’s Blood, whose racing future is in doubt because of a leg problem. Queen’s Pal won the first and third races in the series, the Geraldine Stakes and the Showgate Stakes at Washdyke. She finished second to Pidgeon’s Blood in the second race, the Ascot Park Stakes. She missed the
fourth race through racing at Trentham in January. Her form in other races this season has been first class — a win in the Southland Guineas, third in the 1000 Guineas and a third in the Dunedin Guineas and fourth in the Wellington Stakes Tell All entered calcula-
tions when she won the fourth race, the Princess Mellay Stakes at Gore on February 1. She is by Noble Bijou, the sire of the two previous winners of the three-year-old fillies award, Double d’Or and Powley. Double d’Or was trained by Rex Cochrane, who prepares Tell All.
