Japanese research on whale populations
Wellington reporter Two Japanese research vessels which have been surveying whale populations in the Antarctic are due at ■Wellington today. The Shonan Maru and Shonan.Maru No. 2 have been part of an International Whaling Commission joint cetacean survey for the last two months. _____
With the Russian vessel Vdumchiviy 34 they left Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego. Argentina, on December 30 and surveyed the Antarctic area 1 from 60deg. to 120 deg. west.
