Muriwai hot, but Taylors slips
PA Wellington A national record was set by a hot Muriwai junior swimming squad, which won the first gold medals of the Westpac national surf lifesaving championships at Paekakariki yesterday. Perhaps the other major feature of a long, demanding day in tranquil conditions —
far removed from the wind and roughness of the opening day — was the apparent slip of 'Taylors Mistake in the senior drill events. The Christchurch club, the title-holder, failed to reach the final of the four-man rescue and resuscitation, and it is only fifth best qualifier in the six-man. another title it holds.
