Spanish police swoop on suspects

NZPA Madrid The Spanish police staged a big series of arrests in Madrid yesterday against alleged international Rightwing terrorists. The five to 10 arrests, planned with the co-opera-tion of both French and Italian police, concern extremists believed to be involved both in the August 1980 bomb attack on the Bologna Railway Station that killed 84 people, and in an attack against a French synagogue in October the. same year that left fourdead, said authoritative sources. One of the Spaniards arrested was Rafael Tornes Angosta, a Right-wing ex--tremist linked to Italian neofascist groups. The arrests were announced by a Government spokesman, Eduardo Sotillos, who refused to give any details on the number or identity of those picked up on the grounds that the operation was still underway. The Interior Ministry indicated, however, that the detainees were involved in main attacks or plots abroad, notably in France and Italy. Ministry sources added that the men did not belong to a single organisation, but that each was a member of a domestic neorfascist group.
