NOON FORECAST

General forecast: A shallow depression to the north-east of the North Island is expected to remain slow-moving and the warm moist easterly flow is likely to continue to bring showers to the north and east of the North Island. A weak cold front is expected to become slowmoving about the south-east of the North Island during the day with a change to cool southerlies and a few showers but clearing skies to much of the South Island. There may be some coastal showers about the south of the South Island this afternoon.

District forecasts: Canterbury; Winds light and variable but tending to moderate north-easterly; mainly fine. Marlborough: South to southeast winds, fresh about the coast but moderate inland; a few showers about the coast at first, otherwise mainly fine. Cooler on the coajit but milder inland. Nelson: Moderate south-east winds predominating; fine and mild. Buller: Becoming fine with mild temperatures and light winds. Westland: Fine with light winds but sea breezes by afternoon. Outlook: Fine in all districts.
