Radio awards
Ken Avery. Radio New Zealand's transcription manager, is probably better known as the leader of the Darktown Strutters Dixieland Band. But in the picture at left he is doing another important job. He is responsible for receiving. checking and collating all the entries for the 1983 Mobil Radio Awards Competition, which recognise broadcasting excellence in all aspects of the industry from news reading to technical production. This year, for the first time since their inception four years ago. the awards have been expanded to include private radio stations and advertising agencies.
