Begin holds on Menachem Begin's Rightwing coalition has easily withstood three Parliamentary opposition votes of no confidence, demanding the Israeli Government’s resignation over a judicial commission's report on the Beirut massacre. A debate lasted seven hours.— Jerusalem. Nilsen in Court The mass-murder suspect, Dennis Andrew Nilsen, who is charged with killing a young drifter from Scotland, has made a 50-second Court appearance and was ordered held without bail. He has yet to plead. Nilsen, aged 37. a civil servant, was arrested last week after the police found the remains of three bodies clogging a drain in Musell Hill.—London. Carnival toll .The death toll so far in the Rio carnival is 132. official figures show. The deaths this year resulted mainly from accidents and murders during the festivities. Hospitals treated 15.738 people who were the victims of attacks, accidents, or too much drink, compared with 16.083 last year, the Rio Health Secretary reported—Rio de Janeiro.
