PA Wanganui 1 5 Prices were up at the j Wanganui wool sale yesterday. ’ ; Compared with last Fri- < day’s sale in Christchurch. ( the market was quoted as: , fine fleece, sellers’ favbur; coarse fleece, sellers, favour: ; second-shear, fully 5 per cent ; dearer: lambs' wool, fully 2‘a , per cent dearer: second , lambs, up to 2 r z per cent , dearer. < . The Wool Board bid. on 7.1 , < per cent of the offering and , bought less than 1 per cent. , Competition was generally well spread. Eastern Europe, the Continent, and the Far East being the main buyers. The 24.240-bale offering was 40 per cent lambs’ fleeced 30 per cent ewe
fleece. 15 per cent secondshear. and the usual oddments. The lines varied considerably in style and colour, some showing a high degree of water discoloration and in many cases,cotting. The adjusted weighted average, sale-price -was 256.60 c a kilogram. Based on this, a Government supplementary payment of 24.7 per cent will apply to all" wool sold at the sale and all wool sold privately from midnight on February 16 to midnight on February 17. .
