The Dimple’s class should tell at Wingatui
Special correspondent Dunedin Class should enable The Dimple to master the top weight of 56kg in the White Robe Lodge Stakes, the feature event at the Otago Racing Club’s meeting tomorrow.
The class has enabled her to assemble 14 wins and 12 minor placings from 31 starts for $94,880 in stakes. Her five starts this season have yielded two wins and three seconds at distances from 1200 m to 2600 m. Her win was over the White Robe distance. 1600 m. in the Timaru Cup. She won the Timaru Cup 12 months earlier and the Hazlett Stakes (1600 m at Wingatui
last season. Dig In should give The Dimple and others plenty to do from his position in’ the weights. He has 52.5 kg or 4.5 kg less than scale weight. Dig Jn triumphed under 57.5 kg in the Hazlett Stakes at Wingatui in December when The Dimple was not in the lineup. The Dimple has scale weight tomorrow, the maxiumum she could be awarded.
Dig In has since had three starts, including a second to Sovereign's Ace over 1600 m at the Wellington Cup meeting. The Vision, a stablemate of The Dimple, warrants attention. Fourth in the race last year, she had won three times this season and gained two seconds and a fourth in six starts. She ran second to Royal Lodge two starts back at the Southland meeting.
