Matamata

Special correspondent Auckland Fillies have dominated the main two-year-old races this season and the array of them meet in the Matamata Breeders' Stakes tomorrow in what promises to. be a blaze of speed. Among events which have fallen to these runners: A.R.C. Welcome Stakes. Great Northern Foal Slakes and Castlemaine. $20,000 to Ebony Belle: Wellesley Stakes and Avondale Stakes. Era of Triumph; C.J.C. Welcome Stakes and Dalgety Stakes. Validity. and De Pelichet McLeod 10.000, Bungah Api. Ebony Belle. Era of Triumph, and Validity are the first three in the handicap (decided by winnings) all with 57kg. and Bungah Api is next with 55kg. Ebony Belle and Validity will dispute favouritism and. if each runs up to her form to dale, probably the main portion of the handsome $45,800 stake. Both are unbeaten. Ebony Belle from four attempts, anil Validity from three. Ebony Belle almost certainly will try to lead them all the way. having drawn so well at No. 2. She is such a flier she must be fancied to do just that. Burletta and Merle, two speedsters. had the misfortune to draw wide. Chick Chat and Eastern Bay are well out at the start, too, but they are stout finishers. So is Tangent. Era of Triumph was well beaten in the Dalgety Stakes after three straight wins, but she since came second to Call Me Stumpy at Rotorua and must be given strong consideration from her No. 4 draw. The Breeders' Stakes- is the second leg of the T.A.B. double. The first leg. The Waharoa Handicap. looks an interesting race with the likes of Stylish Dude. Ivan Bar. Pawky and Young Frae all in the form to run prominently.
