Small Farmers field-day

The Canterbury Association of Small Farmers has organised another field-day for its members and anyone interested in joining. It will be held on Sunday afternoon. The meeting place will be the Ashley Gorge for a picnic lunch and the first stop the Oxford Historical Museum. The association will then visit the property of one of its members, Mr Peter Wood, on the Depot Road, Oxford.

Mr Wood has a large Rex rabbit breeding unit. The tour will then visit the Hororata property of member Mr Tony Morrish who has a small commercial area of stone fruit, pip fruit, blueberries, red currants and hazel nuts.

The field-day will conclude with a barbecue at the home of the association’s president, Mr Noel Frizzell, on the Tramway Rd, I.skm west from Kirwee. The association is also planning a horticultural field-day at Lincoln College on Saturday, March 12, at 9.30 a.m., when Dr David Jackson and Mr Bob Crowder will speak.
