Plea over price control
PA Wellington Four organisations have told the Commerce Commission that they want to make submission-at a public inquiry into the possibility of removing canned fruit from price control. The commission has received applications from J. Wattie Canneries, Ltd, the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, the Combined State Unions, and the New Zealand Food Processors and
Chemicals Union. The secretary of the Trade and Industry Department is automatically a party. Both J. Watties Canneries and the Fruitgrowers’ Federation have said that they believe that canned fruit should be removed from price control. All five parties will make their submissions at a public hearing held by the commission in mid-April
