Stolen car, files found

A real-estate agent’s car that was stolen last week has been found, and a set of Multiple Listing Bureau files in it recovered intact. The files'contained details of houses for sale, some of them with instructions as to where to find the key when the owner was out. Police feared that the files might have fallen into the hands of burglars.

The car. which was taken from Cashmere on February

6, was found in a shingle pit at Burnham. It was slightly damaged. The police are investigating a rash of car conversions in which cars have been set on fire by the thieves. About 12 such cases have been reported since January The police say that the cars are set alight to destroy

evidence after they have been used in crimes, or for sheer vandalism. In the latest case, a car was set on fire twice within about an hour, at its parking place in Connal Street, Woolston. The boot was lit first, and then the interior set afire when the offender returned. Moderate damage was done.
