Abortion figures
PA Wellington A total of 6823 abortions was recorded with the Abortion Supervisory Committee last year. This is a decrease of eight abortions compared with the figure for 1981. The committee makes the numbers of abortions public every three months. Between October and December last year there were 1768 abortions re-
corded. This was the highest number recorded for a threemonth period during 1981 and 1982. Figures for the remaining quarterly periods last year were: January-March. 1695; April-June. 1628; July-Sep-tember, 1732. The 1981 quarterly figures were: January-March, 1751; April-June, 1692; July-Sep-tember, 1684; OctoberDecember, 1704.
