Three successive wins for Colin de Filippi

A hat-trick of wins by Colin de Filippi marked the supporting races at Addington Raceway last evening. He started with Our Mana and was then successful with Kotare Cushla and Tough Nut. Our Mana has now won six of his eight starts for Mrs Jenny Barron. He made short work of his rivals in the Good Chase Stakes winning with ease by three ' lengths after returning the smart time of 2min 30.6 s for the 2000 m. “He was going easily all the way and was actually pulling a bit in the back straight,” said de Filip- i pi. 1 Rosewood Dream, at long < odds, got up to shade Young 1 Beau for third. Young Beau i finished with a damaged f

sulky wheel. The firm favourite, Rapid Boy, improved with a round to go and led from the 900 m before dropping away from the 500 m to finish a distant eighth. Kotare Cushla shook Dormouse off inside the last 200 m of the Robert McArdle Bloodstock Stakes and came on to beat him by more than a length. Lord Legend, a ' stablemate of the runner-up came on quite well for third, a length in front of All Luck, a strong finisher from midfield. Tough Nut, a gelding by Noodlum from Pick Up Girl, raced on lease by Ross Baber from the Ellesmere studmaster. Freeman Holmes, made an impressive race debut in the Noodlum Stakes.

Tough Nut was always handy and, without being pushed, he won by more than three lengths from Gallavanter and Double Deck. The win favourite, the southerner, North Fleet, was among those to lose their chances at the start.

Chippie, raced and trained by a Nelson insurance agent, Lance Muir, returned lmin 59.3 s for the mobile mile in the Lordship Stakes. John Burrows had her challenging for the lead at the end of the first 400 m and she was soon clear. She had enough in reserve to win by a length and a half from Winfield Kai and another Nelson district pacer, Crafty Admiral, which was clear of the win favourite. Win a Bottle, which was set an impossible task when

he was still near the rear starting the run home.

Forest Pride was at false odds of 12 to 1 when she held off. a late challenge from Duty Officer by a head in the Holy Hal Handicap. She was always prominently placed and fought on gamely in the smart time of 4min 17.9 s for the 3200 m.

Sure Court, handy over the final 2400 m, battled away for third a short length, shading the pacemaker, Tussle.

There were no treble tickets redeemed on either Forest Pride or Duty Officer, a dividend of $1727.70 being paid out on Sure Court, the other two legs being won by Tough Nut and Chippie.
