New diesel
Peterborough - based Perkins Engines and the Austin Rover division of BL Ltd have got together and will launch a new economy saloon powered by a direct injection diesel engine next year.
Early reports indicate that the car will be capable of returning nearly 60 mpg. The engine, which Perkins is developing, is said to be a turbo-charged version of BL’s O-series 2-litre petrol engine.
