Cricket on TV
Sir,—Why do we have to have all this cricket on TV? Wednesday evening we cannot have the 6.30 p.m. news because New Zealanders are playing in Australia. So what? The world will still go round, and our overseas bankers will not reduce our overdrafts whether we win or lose. Yet our bright “programmers” pay something in the vicinity of $28,000 for a load of "bumf’ that more than just a few people could not care less about. Let us get back to being a little more realistic. What is going on in the world apart from sport and cricket, will have more to do with our future than the outcome of any damn silly "cricket, match". —
Yours, etc., BRIAN D. NICHOLLS. Februarv 9. 1983.
