Rain deaths
At least nine people were killed and more than 3000 made homeless by torrential rain in Brazil's key industrial and farming state of Sao Paulo, a Civil Defence spokesman said. In Sao Paulo's industrial bell 300 workers marooned inside a Volkswagen car plant were rescued bv firemen.
