Labour govt holds no fear
PA ' Wellington The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) sees no cause for concern on the trade, defence, and migration fronts if Labour wins the Australian elections on March 5. Mr Muldoon said yesterday that a change of Government in Australia would not affect closer economic relations. The final agreement would be signed by the High Commissions before the election and the new regime had been in place since January 1. The new Australian
Labour Party leader,. Mr Bob Hawke, had said nothing to cause him concern on the subject of defence treaties either, Mr Muldoon told a press conference. Mr Hawke had also made “helpful" comments about the migration of New Zealanders there by not saying that he would order a clampdown. “He (Mr Hawke) has even gone so far as to say he could work with the New Zealand Prime Minister and that is the ultimate thing," Mr Muldoon said.
