Lieutenant escapes
A lieutenant of the Czechoslovak People’s Army, wearing full uniform and armed with a service pistol, has climbed. over Communist border fortifications and escaped to West Germany. A Bavarian police spokesman quoted the officer as saying that he was unsatisfied with economic and political conditions in Czechoslovakia and that he wanted to apply for political asylum in West Ger-many-Munich.
