The Hawera filly. Glamour Star, has yet to win a race, but all that could change when she tackles the eighth running of the Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes at Tauherenikau today.

Worth $l2lOOO the race is the feature at the Carterton Racing Club's meeting. Glamour Star faces strong opposition from Crackapon. which won the race last year. Saunter. Langtry and Mirikau Lass, but she’ looks well placed for success.

By Umteen. Glamour Star is trained at Hawera by Don Couc'hman and while she has not won any of her 11 starts she has $'14,420 in stakes. That comes from being placed in major races, with a third in Our Flight's New Zealand Derby her best effort. Since then she ran third in the Wellington Stakes and sixth in Aulyn’s New Zealand Oaks.

To help her cause she will be ridden by Dayid Peake, the country's leading rider. He rode the filly when she took third in the’ Wellington Stakes behind McGinty. The race is run under weight-for-age conditions, so 50.5 kg is hardly an imposing penalty

Saunter, which won the Charity Classic at Wanganui over a good field last week, looks the one to beat, The mare has had her share of setbacks in this campaign, but she bounced right back to form with a fine win by over a length against .a good field last week. On that effort she looks a top chance.
