Myra May appeals at Invercargill

Special correspondent Invercargill Myra May should enhance her record on rain-affected tracks in Southland this season in the $lO,OOO Southland 4ZA Radio Special at the Southland Racing Club’s meeting at Riverton tomorrow. Myra May won the Gore and Wairio Cups earlier this season in soft ground and later won on the first day of the Southland meeting on January 3. She was the victim of circumstances at her last start in the Invercargill Cup five days later. That race was a farcical one. disrupted by the muddling pace.

The Wink, a distinctly promising up-and-comer in the Dennis Brothers string, beat all but Kopara in the Wyndham Cup at her last start. Beforehand, she was a middle distance winner at the Beaumont summer meeting. Down in the weights, she makes definite appeal. Gallant Ace and Puffs Angel are other appealing lightweights. Puffs Angel won the Summer Cup on the course in January in style and Gallant Ace's latest minor placings point to an early success. Well drawn Peck, the most consistent open sprinter in Southland, makes strong appeal for the McKenzie Menswear Handicap, second leg of the double.
