Bishops’ stand
The Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference, which represents nearly three million Catholics, has rejected the South African Government’s reform aimed at giving the vote to Coloureds. and Indians, whileexcluding blacks. The proposed reforms were unjust to the vast majority of South Africans, it said, and blacks make up 70 per cent of the population. — Pretoria.
