Street repairs have to wait
Residents of Tilford Street, Woolston, may have to wait two more years before their street is improved. Christchurch City Council plans to reconstruct the street in the next financial year clash with an investigation of the Heathcote River catchment being done by the Christchurch Drainage Board.
The board’s chief engineer, Mr H. P. Hunt, told a committee meeting yesterday that work which is also needed to improve the street drains would eventually send more stormwater into the river. He suggested delaying the reconstruction about two years until the Heathcote investigation was finished.
