Telethon time
Telethon time is coming around again. This year's programme will run on One from 8 p.m. on Saturday. June 25. to 8 p.m. the next day. The executive producer will be the head of entertainment programmes. Mr Tom Parkinson. He will also act as over-all organiser for Telethon 'B3. "The major change for Telethon 'B3 is that the sixregions will be effectively operating their own Telethons." he said. "Networking will occur at regu-
lar intervals throughout the 24-hour period, but heavyemphasis will be placed on the local operation. This should ensure a more coordinated approach to the funds raised than we have achieved in the past." Telethon organisations will be operating in each region by April J. and enquiries should be directed to the organiser in each centre. Telethon funds will go this year to the New Zealand Family Trust, a trust formed specifically for the purpose of administering those funds.
It was formed with the help of the Council of Christian Social Services, and money raised will be specifically directed to social services for young people and the needy and fragile aged, whether in the care of church or non-church charitable social service organisations. and will not be spent on buildings or for religious purposes. Applications for grants will be called for in April this year, and the trust intends to allocate all funds before the end of April. 1985.
