The Foundry 210 St Asaph,Street Phone 792-981 B.Y.O.

(Bv BARBARA SUTHER LAND)

The Foundry deserves the stamp of approval for impeccable service. Shown to our table, it was pleasing to notice two glasses at each setting, white tablecloths that really were white, and cloth napkins as opposed to the paper variety. An impressive start was made with the complimentary iced lemon water and cream sherry.

Considering it .was midweek. the restaurant was well patronised with about 14 guests during the evening. The appetisers consisted of tomato juice, orange juice or mineral water but both my friend and I chose to start with soup.

Vichvssoise citrone (leek

and potato) was a cold, creamy soup (1.90) and was pronounced superb. I chose the Italian meat ball soup ($2.10). This proved to be a vegetable combination of courgette, carrot, onion and tomato with the meatballs in the minority. A tasty Soup all the same. From a selection of six hors d'oeuvres I chose garlic lamb kebabs ($3.90) which had been marinated and grilled. Served on lettuce and garnished with watercress the lamb was very tender although on the rare side.

My companion chose deep fried’ crab crepes ($5.10). Flavoured with horse radish and brandy, the two crab sticks were encased in crepes, and then crumbed and fried.
