Lorries run on soya oil
NZPA-Reuter Sao Paulo
Brazilian scientists have succeeded in running lorries on soyabean oil, sources at Volkswagen Do Brasil have said. Four 13-tonne trucks travelled 120,000 km fuelled by soya oil, normally used for domestic cooking, the sources said.
The experiments, sponsored by numerous companies, would continue with tests on the durability of engines running on soya oil.
The researchers had tested several vegetable oils in motors since 1981 and had run cars on peanut oil.
