Mr Ken McCallum, a member of the Garden City Model Railway Club, holds two of the trains that will soon be housed in a new display hall at Ferrymead Historic Park. The club is converting the old Selwyn House School building into a large display hall for model railways. A modular railway system will be completed in time for the opening of the hall at Easter. The system will consist of separate tables owned by different club members. The tables will be plugged together for the display. The club, which has about 40 members, hopes to construct a permanent display in the hall after the special Easter display is removed. The renovations to the building, have been done by voluntary labour and so far the project has taken nine months.
