Obituary Mr Ossie Morris
PA Wellington A former long-serving "Evening Post" racing editor. Mr Ossie Morris, has i died in Hutt Hospital after a | short illness. He was 72. | Mr Morris spent 46 years | in journalism. 27 of them as i racing editor of the "Evening : Post." i Born in Greymouth in i 1911. Mr Morris joined the ’ "Grey River Argus” on leavi ing school and served a I cadetship there and later i with the "Greymouth Star." Apart from general reportj ing. Mr Morris also covered
sport and racing on the West Coast, and found time to prove a cricketer of considerable skill. He represented the West Coast for a number of years and played one game for Canterbury. Mr Morris also did much sports broadcasting on the West Coast, including rugby and rugby league commentaries. He joined the "Post" in 1949 as racing editor and from then until his retirement in 1976 he gained a high reputation for the quality of his work.
