Monthly series for business
This is the first of a monthly series of articles for small-business owners. A wide range of topics will be covered of interest to retailers, manufacturers, exporters. and service businesses.
This month the emphasis is on getting records in order and on launching new products. which must be planned now if they are to be ready for the Christmas market. On the first Wednesday of each month, further series of articles will be printed, with emphasis on tasks that the small-business owner should be tending to at that time.
These articles are written by Neill Birss, based on information from the Small Business Agency, which is a division of the Development Finance Corporation. Where possible, the
articles will give guidance on where to go for further information or assistance. For example, there may be courses at the Polytechnic or being run by the institute of Management. (In today’s advice attention is drawn to a course at Hagley High School.)
To help readers gain full benefit from the articles! the SBA in Christchurch is setting up a monthly discussion group. Small-business owners will be able to quiz agency counsellors on the topics of the month, and to discuss how the suggestions might be implemented in particular businesses. The group will meet from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m on the fourth Tuesday of each month, and there will be a fee of $lO. For further information telephone Mrs Margaret Foley at 797-578.
