Coastal Trader back soon

A longer, spruced-up Coastal Trader is expected to resume her inter-island freight run on February 19. A spokesman for the Shipping Corporation of New Zealand said that the roll-on. roll-off vessel was due in Auckland from Singapore's Jurong shipyard on February 14, and would 'sail for Lvtteltoh and Dunedin five days later. The Coastal Trader was withdrawn from her inter-island run last December and sent to Singapore for a major refit. In 21 days, she was cut in two and lengthened. A new car deck was added; her engines overhauled. and her familiar green hull painted in a self-polishing paint. The Shipping Corporation had maintained its regular coastal service during the Coastal Trader's absence by chartering the Tasman ferry Marama from Union Maritime Services.
