PA Hamilton The medical profession is likely to review its policy on publicising disciplinary inquiries, according to the chairman of the Medical Association, Dr Jeremy Hopkins. “In view of recent events, I think we need to look carefully at this question,” he said. Dr Hopkins was referring to criticism of the handling by the Medical Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee of the Waikato accidental sterilisation case. . The committee did not name the doctor involved and said only that its inquiry was finished. The “Waikato Times” newspaper later established who the doctor was, and Dr Hopkins confirmed that a penalty had been imposed.
