Shot youth satisfactory
PA Auckland Detectives await a medical clearance before they interview the youth shot by a police marksman in an Auckland city street on Friday. The youth, aged 18, is reported in a satisfactory condition in Auckland Hospital. His family are at his bedside. A police marksman shot him after a four-hour car chase in which the youth
took a woman hostage. Detective Inspector Brendan McFadden, of the Auckland Central C. 1.8., said yesterday that detectives would probably interview the man today if doctors approved. Both the inquiry by Mr McFadden into the criminal aspects of the case, and that of Detective Superintendent Peter Gentry, into the shooting of a civilian by a policeman, will continue this week.
